I mother is born virgo and lived in Kingston 12 when I was born and given the name Ronald "Stewart" Nugent. I spiritual birth is (Pisces) the 12th Son in Israel (Benjamin) and the 13th child of Jacob. I grew up in Kingston 10, Kingston 11 and finally Kingston 13, the Community that I Mother grew up in. 13 also represents the Mother of Israel. Jacobs had twelve sons and one daughter.
Because of the love for music, I joined the "Saint Peters Claver" Drum and Bugle Corps, at age 12. I also served as vice president for the Catholic Youth Organization under Francis Forbes the president and Drum Major, (who became the youngest Commissioner of Police in Jamaica). Reggae drummer Carlton (Santa) Davis is I oldest friend in music; he too was a part of Saint Peters Claver. I was trained to blow the soprano bugle (Revelation 11:15), and when I outgrew that stage in music I had earned two "National Championship" in Jamaica. I call that first step the "Father".
After this I returned to I first love in the Arts, "dance", (Shiva). With three other brothers I started a dance group called the "Shades of Black". We were of that first generation of youths that was into the Soul Music of America, and later found that our talent allowed us to sing, so we started to imitate one of Motown groups the"Temptations".
Santa at this time joined a young group of musicians in I Community (of Kingston 13) known as the "Soul Syndicate", who were now establishing themselves as a rising force in Jamaica Reggae Music, and for a decade or more, they were voted best studio musicians in the Island. (There is a documentary on the group called "Word Sound and Power")
I group consisted of Kenny, Bunny and Soul. We could be called the Soul of the Syndicate, whom we would join at times as "midnight attraction" (singing and dancing) when they played outside of the studios and in the Night Clubs. When I left high school we recorded two songs for the "Jack Pot" label, Edwin Star "War" and Temptations "Ball of Confusion". The second you will find on the Album "Funky Kingston" by Trojan records. At a young age we were already singing songs that remain as conscious and real today as when we did them (ever living) After Kenny left the Island I drifted from performing, to listening to music. Chappy was an older brother in I Community who had a Sound System that he would set up on his veranda on weekends. He would play a variety of soul music that was coming out of America.
On I way home from school on a Friday evening if he was playing on his veranda this would be the first stop before I would go home, and I lived across the street from where he was. I would not leave until he pull down his set in the early morning. After he migrated, there was a new night club being built in the Community called the "Psychadelic Shack", (named after the Temptation song) It attracted a brother that had a new type of Sound System which started an era (in Kingston where Dance Hall once ruled) called Soul Discotheque.
Sound System played out door in what was called Dance Halls and Discotheque played in the Night Clubs or private parties. The name of his set was "Echo Bell", and it was at the Psychadelic Shack that we met, when he came back to the Community. He soon discovered that I knew music selection so he would let I take over at the turntables when he wanted a break, and for a short time I became a selector. There are times we would play alongside other Soul Sets in Kingston. I call this second step in music the "Son".
In 1972 I was given spiritual birth, or as it is written, I was born again when I was transported on the wings of the eagle to New York City. 1972 is the year that the "Museum of Immigration" was opened in the base of the "Statue Of Liberty". It was also the Chinese year of the water rat, "rat race" Within two years of arrival I was able to find and put together a young group of musicians that were from Queens, which became I home in N.Y.C. It is around this time that the people in the City was being exposed to live music from the Island for the first time. Upon till then, the music was mostly heard on stereo systems in basement parties. Within a year we launched out from the basement to become one of the best live band (I-Pro Farmers) in Old York City (formaly New) Caribbean nightclubs.
As we grew we had a father figure (Roland Alphonso) from the original Skattalites joined us. At other times we would have "Papa Roy" (father of Rita Marley) join Roland (both on sax) to play with us. We were Seven the spiritual number of Revelation, yet we could not be complete without a Sister, and so the spirit sent us Sheron Black to become the eighth member.
We also became a favourite backing band for the veteran artists that were coming up from Jamaica in the early 70s. Even though I was born of the Davidic House of Music I was called to take another step. This step would strip I of all the material accomplishment, and the putting down of the music, and I career. While playing music, I also worked with blue print in the engineering department of an Elevator Co.
We did not play music as a profession; we all had jobs. We were playing music for the love of it, and because of this we were bonded together more as Brothers who play music because we were born from the Davidic House of Music called the Prince Of Peace. It was around 1977 that I went to Jamaica on a visit and was spiritually baptised by the Apostle Paul (In Saint Margarets Bay, Portland) and given the name Timothy and sent on the battle field to carry the Cross of suffering.
This is the time that I went into study, as I was told (study in order to be approved) and I learnt to follow I inner calling, to become a follower instead of a leader. The liberating "Truth" was speaking to I "Soul". It is the "Spirit" that said; "What does it profit a man to gain the "World" and loose his"Soul". For this purpose I was held back from becoming an Internationally known musician and artist as I Brethrens from the “Soul Syndicate”, who are amongst those called "Chief Musicians".
It is many years into I study that I found out that Saint Francis of Assisi was lead by these same words while at Mass on Saint Matthias Day, which is the 24th of February, I Earth-day. It is on this date that Francis claim to have seen the “Crucified Cry’ist” speaking to him. Saint Matthias is he who replaced Judas who betrayed Cry'ist. Humility became I teacher, and I took the low seat. I became dead to all the egos of I self. I ego was now "Father Time" that which gave I physical birth. 7 Days make 1 Week, 4 Weeks make 1 Month, 4x7 = 28, the number of Days in a perfect Month found only in February. I am born on the 24th: It is 24 Hours that make 1 Day.
This date is also the birthday of the "First" Prime Minister of Jamaica, "Alexander Bustamante". The 24th Psalms speaks of the Authority of the Creator and lives within the fullness of Mother Nature and Father Time. I am born of the Davidic House of Music because of I middle name by I Mother which is "Stewart", which came out of the Royal House of King David II of Scotland. The Prince of Peace can only be born, from the Arts.
It is Habakkuk that was shown the Judgment and adress his prayer to the players of Music, this is why those of the Revolution was given a new song, I calling is of Cry'ist, and it is Paul that baptised I and reminded I that the Spirit of Truth would be made manifeat within I. He that is called to bring to fulfilment the hidden things of the Holy Book, from which I was given resurrection and spiritual birth.
It is Lazarus that was resurrected on the fourth Day to stand on the “Watch Tower Of Time", waiting on the Instructions from the "Breath of Life". The Old must become New, by removing Old Wineskinwhich is only a decaying corrupted and dirty City, that replaced Jah'rusalem when it went into slavery. (Habakkuk Chap 2:1) I am sent to reveal the resurrection of the Holy Books in all its light, teaching through the within written words, pictures, music and videos. The House of David the musician has to be cleansed from the bed of prostitution.
Because the music belong to the Davidic House of the Arts, I choose only to share the songs, not the name of the artist. When the music is lifted up to the heavenly realm, it enters the House of Unification. It is brought up to the spirit of purification, therefore it looses its earthly attachment so that names becomes nameless in order for the music to made pure and free, and to speak in a single voice. "One Love".
This is the Peace that is above understanding. It is only when the music speak as one, without any attachment (pure in spirit) that the Prince of Peace can stand on Holy Ground. John who was the bass player within the group was also the head technician of City University Graduate Center. When we stopped playing music publicly, he built a recording studio in the basement of his parents house, and when he decided to follow them to Florida, the Studio was placed in I hands.
It was first used publicly, for it had a sound that attracted many people. As a band we were only covering the music of others, now with the studio it gave us the opportunity to express our own spirit and musical ability. It is then that I decided that it is time to make it serve a singular purpose by making it private, rather than public, and over the years I have recorded a library of songs, many remained in the Library.
In the playlist “Lots Wife” is a compilation of songs that I had mastered and put on a CD. The songs within the playlist, “Raatid Sound”, (the name of the Studio), are songs recorded in the 80s, 90s, and early 20s. These were placed in the library collection. Nothing was done to them; they are raw recordings, some of which I have shared just as they were recorded. A few was done by I brethren at his home studio, Left Rock Studio and completed at Raatid where I overdub vocals and other instrument to them. Because of the engineering ability of John (the Baptist) and the recording technology it allowed I to play basically everything on most of I songs using the keyboard while John did the engeneering.
The music that minister "One Love" to the People is the music that will liberate the World, not by the impatience of man, rather by destined "Time" , governed by the "Faith" of Abraham, the Father Of All Nation. The Creator shall make I feet like Hinds Feet, when I stand on I Watch Tower. To the Chief singer on my stringed Instrument. Bless.
