During the 1970s, the music coming out of Kingston 13 was the backbone of the Jamaica Music Industry. The Soul Syndicate Band, which played on over 60 percent of all recordings done during that era, was an integral part of that movement. They were one of the top reggae session bands in Jamaica between the early 1970s and mid-1980s, playing on countless instrumental releases and backing top vocalists like Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs. Boasting musicians of the caliber of Earl 'Chinna' Smith, Tony Chin, drummers Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace, and Carlton Davis. Keyboardist, Toby Brisset, Earl Lindo, Tyrone Downie, Augustus Pablo along with founding member George Fullwood, the band epitomized the Kingston 13 musical journey.
That journey began in the 1950s and established itself in the early 1960s through acts like saxophonist Val Bennett, Owen Grey, Jackie Edwards, brothers Laurel and Bobby Aitken, Sparky and Pluggy and the Lamb Sisters (Loonie, Vern and Merna), Merna being the mother of current singer Alaine. They were the elite in the entertainment business back then, performing at leading nightclubs, hotels and lawns in the Inner City.
This period also saw record producer Bunny Lee, who was born in Greenwich Farm (later to be known as Greenwich Town), dominating the market with his productions. Compiling a catalogue that could perhaps be challenged only by few other producers, Lee had under his wings stalwarts like Roy Shirley, Slim Smith, Johnny Clarke, John Holt, Delroy Wilson, Dennis Brown, Pat Kelly, Cornell Campbell, Owen Grey and others. Lee began as a record plugger for producers Duke Reid, Clement Dodd and others, before going on his own in 1967.
Lee vehemently claims that he was the first to produce not only the first Rocksteady recording, but the first reggae one as well, with the 1967 songs Tougher than Tough (Rudies Don't Fear) by Derrick Morgan and Bangarang by Stranger Cole. His production of Stick By Me, a Shep and the Limelites original, first done locally by Delroy Wilson and popularized by John Holt, remains a perennial favorite among music fans. The Greenwich Farm Community, which is bounded on the North by Spanish Town Road, on the South by Marcus Garvey Drive, on the East by East Avenue and on the West by West Avenue, it occupies only a small portion of Kingston 13, perhaps less than 20 acres, yet it remains the main contributor to the immense musical talent that emanates from Kingston 13.
According to Tony Mack, a long-standing Community inspirator and many-time show promoter - especially of his talent shows in the mid-1970s, which unearth such talents as Sugar Minot, Tony Tuff, African Brothers, Johnny Clarke, Dillinger and The Mighty Diamonds. The Greenwich Farm Community produced no less than 50 musical stalwarts who were either born there or lived in the Community. He said those born there included John Holt, Brent Dowe, Michael Prophet, Earl 'Chinna' Smith, Phillip Frazer, Bunny Lee, Tony Matterhorn, Tappa Zukie and Desie Young, current president of the Jamaica Federation of Musicians and former vocalist on a song titled Warning.
Tony Mack also included Junior Tucker, Prince Alla, keyboard player Glen Adams, Don Lee, Finnigan, and singer/producer Lloyd Charmers among the outstanding entertainers who were born in Greenwich Farm. Charmers was perhaps best remembered for producing Ken Boothe's big number one hit, Everything I Own, in 1974. Tony Mack mentions the names of Slim Smith, Delroy Wilson, Ken Boothe, Max Romeo, Derrick Morgan, Laurel Aitken, Freddie McGregor, Barrington Levy, Jah Lloyd, Leroy Smart, I-Roy, Alton Ellis, Pat Kelly, Lascelles Perkins, Tyrone Taylor, Johnny Clarke and Glenn Ricks as entertainers who at one time or another lived in the Greenwich Farm community.
THE MAJESTIC HOUSE OF KING DAVID
Greenwich Farm Community (Kingston 13) is founded upon the Davidic Dynasty based upon David being a “Herds Boy” and a “Musician”. For the History of Greenwich Farm is one of Herds men, Fisher men and Music. It is in Greenwich Farm that you will also find the “Majestic Theatre”. It is also in Greenwich Farm that you will find the Assembly of Philadelphia, to whom the Key of David is given, which is located on East Ave, between Spanish Town Rd, and North Ave.
While everyone is making claim as to where the music of the Revolution originated, just as how it is being debated as to the foundation of the image that Rastafarian took on and its relation to the Music. For while they are linking the image to Ethiopia, and the former Emperor Haile Selassie, (Hail and Emperor are titles that is Roman in origin) he was not conformed to the Image, and if man is created in the image of whom he call his God, then it is obvious that they are being mislead as to where their image originated.
Why is this? It is this congregation that (king) Saul was persecuting because of their lack of knowledge, for the covenant that they were under is identified with those that are called Nazarene, those who were made Judges in the Land as in the history of Samson, found in the Book of the same name Judges, from which Judgment comes.
The Creator has chosen to accept the name (Rastafari), for their image represents their zeal, (for it is the image of humility (not fashion) that Nebuchadnezzar the King was humbled to become). The same one that persecuted them because of their lack of knowledge is the same one sent to speak to the Romans on their behalf after being enlightened by the brightness of the Sun (son) on the road to Damascus. In the Book of Romans 9, 10 and 11, Paul spoke of them as being those of his own flesh, and said that they had a zeal for the Creator (who is Truth) but not according to knowledge, and that those who are in the light should humble themselves and not boast.
This knowledge is found within the teachings of Cry’ist, who is also Teacher of the Sadhus in India. Christianity minister to a glorified Christ while Sadhu follow a crucified Cry'ist, through his teaching of renunciation. Cry’ist left India so as to travel to the West, and became the “prodigal son” in order to find and destroy the root of Sin, that is now present amongst the Holy of Holy, where Sadhu is now performing for money. Anywhere there is large gathering, religious or not, it becomes an attraction to earn Money.
Those in the West who crucified Cry’ist, took his teachings and called themselves Christians. Those he was sent to deliver from bondage denied him, and lso betrayed him. It is not because there was true brotherly love found amongst those of Philadelphia why there was no fault found within this Congregation; For it is the lack of brotherly love why they remain blind until this very Day, and the music is placed in the hands of the Gentiles. This is why Paul told them not to rejoice over their blindness.
It is written in Romans Chap 8. “Whom he foreknew he also did predestine and made him into the likeness of the (Sun), son whom he called “Spirit of Truth”. It is his sacrifice of brotherly love that made him the “firstborn” of the many Brethren” making this Congregation to be faultless. He that is called first born from the grave (which is not a mus, “mus-grave”) is given the Faith of Abram, to whom Melchizedek pay homage. The king of Sodom wanted to give Abram a reward for helping him in physical battle, but he refused the reward and asked that it be given to his brethren. This became the sacrifice of brotherly love.
The Abram of Faith is the Prophet Habakkuk, who was shown a greater weapon than the physical weapons that made him a military leader (Nugent) and addressed his prayer of Judgment to the musicians. He is the source from which those who belong to this Congregation received the message of Righteousness and Judgment that became the new Music. This Congregation of musicians was of a younger Generation (called the 50s generation) and it is made manifest in Greenwich Farm, brought to fulfillment and light spiritually in Queens, Old York City, amongst those that manifested brotherly love, (the I-Pro- Farmers) given to I, to bring to fulfilment Revelation, Chap. 7 and 14. that I am yet to (open) reveal
I recently spoke to Chinna about the “Silver Musgrave Award” that he was given, for I saw him speaking in an interview on Smile Jamaica TV recently for the first time. I reminded him that the May-Pen Cemetery found in Kingston 13 was also called mus-pen Cemetery, because it is said that the grave is not a May, but a Mus. He said to I if he had seen the revelation he would not have accepted the medal. I explained to him that it was a part of prophecy and destiny, for a “conquering lion” is a title given to one that conquers the grave, as written in Romans Chap 8.
(History) Anthony Musgrave was born in Antigua in 1828. He served the British colonial government in the Caribbean for a decade before being appointed governor of Newfoundland in 1864 and then to Australia and New Zealand. Musgrave returned to the Caribbean region to serve as Governor of Jamaica, a position he held from 1877 to 1883. During his tenure, he focused his attention on the “Island’s Cultural Life”, and it was under Musgrave that the government bought the “Jamaica Railway Company” and extended the rail lines. What did the present government do? Close it down to rape the Land with Highways.
Under his governorship, several measures were carried out such as the establishment of electric telegraphs, the re-organization of the “Public Gardens” and consolidation of the public Debt. He also launched the Jamaica scholarship and was involved with creating the Institute of Jamaica, which was meant to encourage the development of the Arts and sciences on the Island and was responsible for the establishment of an award given to Jamaicans who have contributed significantly to these fields. The Musgrave Medal was named in his honor in 1897.
(Spirit of Truth) It is given unto I the power to say Freedom is a Mus, (written in the song Prophecy by I schoolmate Earl Lowe) for by conquering the grave, those that have done “good deeds in society” is given resurrection so that their works live on Musgrave, (Mus-live). The congregation of Smyrna, and Philadelphia are linked, for both of these Congregations were warned about those that claim to be Jews and are not. Smyrna was spoken of as first and last, dead and alive, and as a very poor group of people.
“To the Angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who Died and came to Life again, (one that conquer the grave). I know your afflictions and your poverty yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
“To the Angel of the church in Philadelphia write: these are the words of him who is Holy and True, who holds the Key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars; I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.
(Spirit of Truth) Habakkuk revealed to the congregation of musicians the message of Judgment by addressing his prayer to them. He was enlightened while standing on his watch Tower. I who bears witness to Truth, inherited a Tower, and am also born from a Davidic House through the linage of I Mothers, Stewart. (It is said that even before knoweldge of the Creator was widespread in the Land, the concept of devine Justice was present in Jah'rusalem). Why did Paul tell the Romans that his kindred according to the flesh have a zeal for the Creator but not according to knowledge? Luke is made an eyewitness, and accuses those that call themselves "lawyers" for taking away the Key of knowledge from the Congregation of Philadelphia.
Over the Gate of this Congregation is an invitation from the Psalms to “Enter Into His Gates With Thanksgiving”. Although the Holy Books (called the Bible) speaks of the Community of those called Rastafarians, they are ignorant of this, being kept in darkness by those who took away the Key of knowledge.
There is no more any slave-master or slave based upon the Law of Truth, because I was once called a slave-master and I was once called a slave. I grandfather through whom I inherited the name Nugent, is Mulatto, and I was told that the grandmother whom I never knew, was as dark as the Night, for she was a Maroon. I am not sent to condemn anyone because the society claim them to be (goats), for on the other hand there is no sheep that can be called good based upon the Law of Truth. I am sent to bear witness to Truth, that there is None Righteous. To be made Righteous one had to be made Pure in Heart. Unless one had removed that which is called Money from their heart and paid the price for doing so, it remains impure.
And for those who in their defense of it, and will quote that money is not evil, it is the Love of it! I answer to them is this; If one does not love “vanilla ice-cream” why do they have a desire to obtain it? The Army given to I is not given to fight against flesh and blood. I warfare is against the spirit that control the flesh, and the authority (education) that rule the spirit, to enforce that Money is Life. This is an Alien invention of man used to enslave and destroy all that is born of Life, and those whose invention it is have enslaved all of Life, and is made a slave of their own invention.
The Army of the Life (who is without challenge) is not sent to fight against the Living, so that anyone who is of the living, and who is willing to stand in defense of that which is not Created of Life to defend it, they have become an obstacle and stumbling block to the rebirth of Life on Earth and will be removed from Life without exception. Anything that is made to be a hindrance to Life must perish. As it is written the Creator of Life does not wish that any should Perish, rather that all come to repentance. Since man is given a second chance to Live, it is his choice whether he choose to gamble with his own life, there is no mercy or forgiveness anymore. All that is left in Earth is Judgment. One will only reap what they sow.
